PUBG on Xbox Series X Will Run at 60FPS Using Backwards Compatibility

Written By

PUBG Corp has announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will run at a smooth 60FPS on Xbox Series X using backwards compatibility.

When the Xbox Series X launches on 10th November, PUBG will be fully playable using backwards compatibility, and the Xbox Series X will be running the Xbox One X version of the game. This normally runs at 30FPS, but PUBG is getting a new Framerate Priority option on consoles when Season 9 kicks off later this week. Turning this on drops the resolution to 1080p, but increases the frame cap to 60FPS.

"After rigorous testing, we’re pleased to say that the game performance is extremely smooth and stable, with faster loading and little to no frame drops thanks to the power of next-gen," said the PUBG Console Team.

However, the developer has confirmed that the Xbox Series S will run the Xbox One S version of the game using backwards compatibility, meaning that at launch it won't support a 60FPS option, although the team is working on raising the framerate cap on the budget next-gen console in the future.

PUBG Season 9 kicks off this week on 29th October 2020 with a new dynamic map to get stuck into - you can see more in the trailer down below!
