It's not even November yet and we're still waiting on the Xbox Series X|S launch, but apparently, Microsoft has "already started" cooking up future iterations of the console, much like the Xbox One S and Xbox One X served as a mid-generation refresh. It seems something similar could happen with the impending next-gen.

"I think, like you’ve seen in past generations, that we will iterate on hardware. We’ve already started, right? Our team doesn’t go away, when we kind of lock the spec," Xbox Boss Phil Spencer told Kotaku in an interview. "Some of it is cost. That’s always the important thing. How do you drive down the cost of the console in the parts that are there, but also just looking at areas in terms of what are the next iterations that you might do?"

Spencer also noted that over the course of the generation, he expects the Xbox Series S will sell better than its pricier, more powerful counterpart. "I think, over the generation, our expectation would be that price really matters and that you would see the Series S sell more," he said, also noting that the Xbox Series X is "a beast". So there's that.

Xbox Series X|S launches globally on 10th November 2020.
