Marvel's Avengers Kate Bishop Hawkeye and Next-Gen Upgrade Delayed

Crystal Dynamics has announced that Marvel's Avengers' first two post-launch heroes have been delayed, with the new 'Kate Bishop: Taking AIM' Operation set to launch later in the year (the DLC was supposed to release this month), while the game's next-gen launch has been pushed into 2021, along with Clint Barton Hawkeye.

The developer assures that you'll still be able to play the game on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility, and once the next-gen upgrade is ready to roll out, you'll be able to transfer your progress across "to continue playing seamlessly", with cross-gen cross-play also promised.

Writing in a 'State of the Game' blog post, Studio Head Scot Amos notes that "both of these shifts are to ensure that the team has the time to deliver the best experience possible." As a token of appreciation (and presumably, compensation), logging in to Marvel's Avengers between 22nd October and 5th November 10am PDT will reward players with a 'Digital Thank-You Bundle'.

This bundle will include 1,500 Credits (enough to buy a Legendary Skin and Nameplate from the Marvel's Avengers Marketplace), 7,000 Units (enough for a Legendary Skin from the Helicarrier Cosmetic Vendor), 250 Upgrade Modules (for upgrading high-level gear), 20 DNA Keys (to unlock special blue crates), and a Sarah Garza-inspired Nameplate.

While Kate Bishop and Clint Barton Hawkeye being delayed and the next-gen update moving to next year won't do much to help Marvel's Avengers' dwindling player numbers, patch 1.3.3 has recently released new Tachyon Rift missions, Cosmic Gear, and a new SHIELD outpost, and Crystal Dynamics promises more in the way of oft-requested features and fixes.

Among these is the ability to replay the Reassemble Campaign with your Super Hero levels and gear intact, an Avengers Initiative Ping System, high contrast mode for improved text readability, adjustable Hero Icon visibility, clearer mission rewards on the War Table, and off-screen and ranged enemy attack indicators.
